Volunteer

Volunteer with us!

Volunteers are an important part of the San Juan Island Library team. Every year, hundreds of volunteers contribute their time and talents to the Library, gaining new skills and getting a behind-the-scenes view of the Library, while helping the Library fulfill our “discover life’s possibilities” mission.

Volunteers tackle a variety of projects, including:

  • Helping with events and programs
  • Providing tech help to community members
  • Tutoring English
  • Language Learners
  • Assisting during senior visits
  • Book mending
  • Special projects

Work with adult learners at all levels of tech knowledge. Tutor one-on-one in tech sessions. Tech subjects include teaching patrons how to use library digital resources such as eBooks, audiobooks, eMagazines, and more. We also coach patrons on basic computer, tablet, eReader or smartphone skills; internet and browser skills; setting up email and social media accounts; and learning how to use apps and websites.
